The talks that began in Djibouti scheduled to have a second round of talks but they have failed. None of the negotiating parties showed up in Djibouti, the agreed venue and either of the two sides gave no explanation for the postponement of the talks.
The second round talks spearhead by technical committee nominated by Somaliland and Somalia governments to weed out the thorny issues for both camps. But they failed to meet.
The meeting is supposed to happen the last Saturday of the last month and it didn’t materialize yet.
The first talks were chaired by both of the presidents of Somalia and Somaliland and have been agreed upon to continue until to reach a compromise deal. The talks hosted by Djibouti government and in coordination with the US and other international partners produced communique about an integration of Somaliland and Somalia people except political figures. However, that was interpreted as the step towards possible greater gradual integration of the two camps that has been hostile for the last three decades.
