In today’s session, the Somaliland House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution to initiate the review of the national constitution, responding to suggestions put forth by lawmakers representing the Awdal region.
Citing specific articles within the constitution to justify their decision, members of the house called upon President Bihi to consider power-sharing arrangements that would increase government positions for individuals from the Awdal region.
Also, the House of Representatives recommended that the national electoral commission reevaluate the allocation of polling stations in the Awdal region, advocating for an increase in the number of polling stations, a practice previously implemented in other regions.
This decision follows concerns raised by some lawmakers from the Awdal region regarding power-sharing, polling stations, and constitutional review, emphasizing the need for their fellow MPs to respect and address these concerns.
