In today’s legislative session, the Somaliland House of Representatives reached a unanimous decision to approve the members nominated by the President for the Somaliland Human Rights Commission. The President had appointed these members in September of this year, and their confirmation had awaited the endorsement of the house until this Saturday.
During the session, Speaker of the House Yasin Faraton announced the names of the approved members, clarifying that six out of the seven appointed individuals were present. The absence of the seventh member was attributed to illness, as reported by the house.
Expressing appreciation, Mohamed Barud, one of the approved members, conveyed gratitude to the house for granting approval. He acknowledged the significant responsibility bestowed upon them to play a leading role in safeguarding human rights within the country.
