The Somaliland National Electoral Commission has formally unveiled the definitive voter list for the impending elections in Somaliland this year. According to the released report, a total of 1,227,048 individuals have been registered to participate in the forthcoming electoral process.
The Maroodijeeh region, with Hargeisa as its administrative hub, leads the voter roster with 497,734 registered voters, while the Sahil region reports the least number, with 92,620 registered voters.
Also, Lasanod city, the administrative city of the Sool region, which witnessed military conflicts with the government last year, has recorded 48,861 registered voters, while Aynabo district retains the second-largest number of registered voters in the Sool region, totaling 35,565.
The announcement follows a formal presidential decree issued by President Muse Bihi a day earlier, endorsing the election timeline slated for November 13, 2024. The decree confirms the concurrent occurrence of both the Presidential and political association elections.
