Hargaysa, 02, November 2018. Somaliland has begun talks with its neighbouring countries to strengthen business ties. In his tour of East African countries such as Kenya and Djibouti, the foreign minister Sa’ad Shire said he was seeking to strengthen economic ties with the neighbouring nations.

The minister also sought to establish a recognition that Somaliland is an autonomy that is self-sufficient.

Somaliland now seeks to paint a positive picture to the world, as a sovereign country that is now self-sufficient. The country is now investing heavily in public relations campaigns to highlight this, by investing in PR firms and inviting foreign writers and scholars to help bring a positive global view of Somaliland.

Since the presidential elections in November 2017, Somaliland has been off the world’s headlines, but for good reasons. There haven’t been suicide bombings or missiles thrown targeting terrorists. Somaliland President Muse Bihi has also signed multimillion dollar port upgrading project, and this has shown the world that the country is open for business. Once again, Somaliland has become an investment destination attracting, foreign direct investments instead of aid and cash handouts from donor countries.
