The ruling party of Somaliland, Kulmiye, has formally declared its support for the recently revealed election timelines put forth by the Somaliland National Electoral Commission. This endorsement establishes Kulmiye as the first political party to back the revised schedule.
Mohamed Kahin, the Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the ruling party, has encouraged other political entities to follow suit in endorsing the new timeline. He commended the political associations for promptly embracing the election timeline.
The Minister also took the opportunity to address the public, urging them to prepare responsibly for the upcoming elections scheduled for this year. He emphasized the importance of refraining from any actions that could compromise the integrity and smooth execution of the electoral process.
As per the released timeline, the Political Parties and Associations election is set to occur on the 28th of December, 2023, followed by the Presidential election on the 13th of November, 2024.
Meanwhile, the UCID party expressed its opposition to the newly announced election timeline presented by the electoral commission, while the stance of the Waddani party on the matter is yet to be confirmed as they have neither endorsed nor denounced the revised schedule.
