Fiesal Ali Warabe, the Chairman of Somaliland’s UCID party, has expressed his concerns regarding the recently announced election timeline by the National Electoral Commission. According to the Commission’s mandate, the Political Parties and Associations election will be held first in the country.
Chairman Feisal Ali Warabe has reiterated his stance, emphasizing that the Presidential election should precede the political and association election. He raised allegations of the electoral body favoring President Bihi’s political interests and accused the current administration of aiming to manipulate the election process to the detriment of opposition parties and to benefit those aligned with the President.
Feisal Ali Warabe asserted that the opposition parties have previously demonstrated their willingness to make compromises to reduce political tension. However, he stated that the present circumstances do not warrant further compromises from the opposition. Instead, he stressed the importance of respecting the will of the people.
According to the recent statement issued by the Electoral Commission, the Political Parties and Associations election is scheduled to take place on the 28th of December 2023, followed by the Presidential election on the 13th of November 2024.
