A vessel carrying scores of livestock from Somaliland to Yemen has sank off Bab-El-Mandeb strait. According to the General Manager of Somaliland ports Saed Hassan Abdillahi who made the announcement in a facebook post revealed all the livestock was belonging to the Somaliland traders.
The Official did not give further details on what circumstances caused the incident, but, clarified the vessel was carrying 1780 livestock including sheeps, goats and cows when it traveled from Berbera port last night.
He also noted all the crew are still missing as investigations underway. However, It is not the first time that a large number of livestock transported from the port of Berbera owned by Somaliland traders have drowned in the waters of the Red Sea.
