Abdiqadir Jirde drops out of Waddani party race for chairmanship

The Interim chairman of Waddani party Abdiqadir jirde has announced his withdrawal from vying for the chairmanship of his party which is expected to take place mid next month. He did not clearly state his reasons for abandoning the race but underlined that it was a “personal choice” and no one had influenced that decision.

Abdiqadir Jirde said the party officials have a right to contest or withdraw from the race to the top seat. He added that it’s the right time to give a platform for the young generations to take the lead of this nation.

He also revealed that the party will make amendments to its constitution when the convention kicks off in mid November by removing the seats of the Interim chairman and the leader of the party which means Waddani will have a chairman and deputy chairman.

Abdiqadir Jirde who has been a lawmaker for decades and influential in Somaliland politics advised his party to get high ranking positions for the much expected defectors from the ruling party who will join them soon.
