Somaliland Ministry of Education officially kicked of the National examination in Somaliland on Saturday. Government officials said the national exam will take place at the same time across the country including the Sanaag region where Puntland had previously claimed they will halt the exercise.
Somaliland National Examination board officials who were addressing the media during distribution of question papers said that around 32,000 candidates will sit for the national exam.
Somaliland officials highlighted that the increasing number of female candidates is commendable. They praised parents for understanding the significance of having educated women in the nation.
They also noted that more than 2,000 teachers and 700 police officers have been posted in examination centres to provide security and aid in the examination invigilation exercise. The government has not yet officially announced the date the results will be released, but candidates expect their results within the coming two months
