The Director general of CBA TV, Hussein Jama found fault with the Somaliland journalists association. He accused the association of failing to defend the media freedom in Somaliland as it is required to.
In his remarks on Monday where he announced that CBA has started operating in Somaliland after paying $10,000 illegal fines, Hussein Jama praised some of the individuals and groups who opposed the illegal ban against CBA. However, he firmly criticized Somaliland journalists association (SOLJA), noting that they did not take their part to denounce the illegal suspension against CBA TV.
Hussein Jama was very upset that the country’s giant journalist association intentionally declined to address the unlawful acts against media freedom. Elaborating why SOLJA could make such a decision, Hussein Jama said that the agency is now led by journalists who work with the state owned media houses. He urged the journalists to reconsider its leadership.
Hussein Jama made the announcement today during a press conference where he announced that CBA has resumed operations in Somaliland after 34 days of illegal suspension.
