CBA TV has officially started operating in major towns in Somaliland after 34 days of illegal suspension. The management of the TV insisted to maintain their impartial editorial standard and to keep serving for the community across the globe.
The Director General of CBA, Hussein Jama announced the ministry of information ordered the TV to pay $10,000 fines which he described as “illegal” as well as further steps taken by the government to suppress the media freedom.
He expressed gratitude to everyone or organizations; locally, regionally and internationally who opposed the illegal suspension against CBA. The management also praised CBA’s team in strong terms for ensuring the TV’s service did not stop.
Somaliland ministry of information suspended CBA from operating its territory on 6th September and the management of CBA received the letter a day after. The ministry said the license of the television was expired as well as that it broadcasted information that could trigger insecurity in the country which the management of the TV had immediately denied the statement and shared their valid documents with the media to prove the Ministry’s claim wrong.
