China has responded to Somaliland’s ministerial delegation visit to Taiwan where they had high level interactions with the President of Taiwan.
Reacting to Somaliland foreign minister’s visit to Taiwan, the Chinese foreign Affairs spokesPerson Zhao Lijian says the world recognises one China which Taiwan is an integral part of. He accused the Taiwan government of undermining the indepence of other countries.
Zhao Lijian believes the Taiwan ruling Party is fanning the flames and will only end up hurting itself. His statement came barely hours after the President of Taiwan Tsia Wen received Somaliland foreign affairs minister Essa Kayd in her office.
China has previously sent several delegations to Somaliland to persuade them to withdraw its relations with Taiwan – but- Somaliland declined the call.
Somaliland and Taiwan noted they share the values of freedom and democracy and are ready to strengthen their relations. The Somaliland delegation will be leaving Taiwan on Saturday after they sign new agreements. However both administrations have not yet disclosed details of those agreements.
