Dozens of soldiers join to Somaliland from Puntland State

Hargeisa (Somaliland.com) – Somaliland government has paraded tens of Soldiers it claimed had defected from the Puntland State of Somalia.

On Sunday, December first, tens of men in military fatigues were presented at Taleeh city in Sool region to pledge allegiance to Somaliland. They were led by Colonel Ali Diiriye Baal who said his men were part of Puntland for the past twenty-one years.

The former Somaliland minister of water, who is now appointed as the Minister of information, Suleiman Ali Koore, reviewed the contingent of soldiers to be defectors. Minister Saleeban is undertaking an exhaustive tour of Sool region.

The minister remarked that the soldiers’ defection to Somaliland’s side underscores Somaliland’s upper-hand in the contest over Sool region. He rather wishfully said this will end Puntland’s claim of disputed Sool region.

Suleiman Ali Koore declared that all soldiers will be integrated into the Somaliland National Military Army.
