Mogadishu (Somaliland.com) – The Federal Government of Somalia had on Saturday signed an agreement with the European Union to undertake developmental projects in Mogadishu and Berbera.
Somali Minister of Planning Mr Jamal Mohamed Hassan and the EU Director-General of International Cooperation and Development Mr Stefano Manservisi signed the agreement in Mogadishu in the presence of Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Khayre.
Somali Minister of Planning Jamal Mohamed Hassan in his briefing on the agreement reached with the European Union presented the economic scope of the agreement in Mogadishu and Berbera.
Minister Jamal on the distribution of funds between Mogadishu and Berbera said ‘This project allocates €15 million to build roads and other infrastructure in Mogadishu’s Benadir region, in honor of the late mayor, Eng. Abdirahman Yarisow.’
Minister Jamal continued that the EU allocation to Berbera is €7.5million, which will address local government needs, improve roads, water drainage, sewerage, as well as other basic infrastructure.
On his part, Mr Stefano expressed happiness in signing these developmental projects for the coastal cities of Mogadishu and Berbera.
