The Somaliland National electoral commission held a meeting with the European Union led by the EU’s ambassador to Somalia Nicolas Berlanga. The two sides talked about the final preparations of the election and the possibilities of accelerating the pending duties within a short time.
In a tweet, the National Electoral commission said the European Union praised the developments towards the election. Somaliland is scheduled to hold a combined election for the house of representative and the local council on 31 of this month.
EU ambassador to Somalia, Nicolas Berlanga on Sunday visited the electoral warehouse in Hargeisa where ballot papers have been stored awaiting dispatch to various polling stations. During the visit he praised the unity and leadership of the national electoral commission.
The electoral commission had announced that more than 1 million voters picked their voter cards and Maroodi jeeh region Hargeisa, which Hargeisa is the administrative city, will have the largest number of more than 400,000 voters.
