The European Union capacity building’s Head of Mission, Chris Reynolds has arrived in Hargeisa and held meetings with government officials including the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland and Coast Guard Admiral Ahmed Hurre Hariye, before his end of mission.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Essa Kayd, and Coast Guard Admiral Ahmed Hurre Hariye, expressed appreciation for the support provided by EUCAP to strengthen maritime security, while the Admiral recognized the mission as the most important partner to develop Coast Guard Functions.
Meanwhile, the Minister agreed to suggest a proposal for a new agreement with the EUCAP in Somaliland towards maritime security. EUCAP and Somaliland accomplished fruitful collaboration including maritime training.
The European Union Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP), is a union that works on the civilian crisis management mission that supports the development of Somali maritime security and wider police capacity.
