The armed conflict between the Somaliland army and local militia in LasAnod which has been relatively calm for the last few days has witnessed on Tuesday morning a fresh combat between the warring sides.
Somaliland Ministry of interior said the armed groups who intend to not adhere to the ceasefire have launched an attack on the Somaliland military bases which the national army thwarted.
The statement added that the national army, while respecting the ceasefire announced by the government, is in self defense and has no directives to wage attacks.
The government reiterated its call to all sides to accept and should welcome the traditional elders who are in the region for peace making. However, there are no immediate casualties reported regarding the latest conflict and each side blamed the other for disobeying the ceasefire.
