Somaliland’s capital Hargeisa has today hosted the much awaited international conference on trade and transport facilitation. The theme of the conference is ” Achieving Friction-less Trade Between Somaliland & Ethiopia.
The three days conference will hold extensive discussions on regional trade barriers. According to AQN law firm which is the event organiser, the conference will Prioritise the trade relations between the two neighbouring countries Somaliland and Ethiopia.
At the opening ceremony, senior officer at AQN law firm, Abdishakour Ali Mohamed clearly elaborated about the conference including its aim and their expectations to the public.
Hassan Haji Farah, the Director general of Somaliland- Berbera free zone stated that the trade relations between the two countries is of mutual interest and it is expected that it will reach a much higher level than it is today.
Meanwhile, Somaliland lawmaker, Ahmed Mohamoud Kaare said he believes this will enable the two countries to enhance their connectivity and trade infrastructure. He also recounted the significance of such conferences to the region.
The conference which will focus on international cross-border trade and traffic facilitation will be the first of its kind in the Horn of Africa and will be held annually. It’s much expected to lower regional trade barriers in the following years.
