Hargeisa, May 6 (Somaliland.com) A high-level Egyptian delegation has today arrived in Hargeisa, for meetings with Somaliland Government.
The delegation is led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Mr. Hamdi Loza and will stay in Somaliland for around three days.
Somaliland Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Mr. Abdiqadir Omar Jama, has welcomed and held a brief meeting with them.
This is the highest level delegation from Egypt since Somaliland dissolved the union with Somalia.
The Republic of Somaliland and Egypt had past historical relations, before British colonial rule. The recent relations were restricted to Egypt’s constant assistance to Somaliland’s education sector. It is worth to note that tens of schools in Somaliland have Egyptian teachers who have helped the quality of education.
