Famous Somali poet and songwriter, Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame aka Hadraawi, has passed away in Hargeisa on Thursday. Somaliland government officials including President Muse Bihi, opposition parties and intellectuals have sent condolence to the family and the Somali people for the loss of their loved one.
Hadraawi was born in 1943 with 9 siblings; 8 brothers and one sister. He traveled to Yemen at the age of 10 where he studied the Quran. In a previous interview, Mohamed Ibrahim said his Quran teacher gave him the name Hadraawi which became one of the most popular names in the Somali community.
The government is expected to announce within the next hours a special committee to organize a state funeral for late Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame (Hadraawi). Thousands of people from different places are also expected to attend the state funeral.
