Kenya, through its Liaison office has congratulated Somaliland for successfully staging democratic, open, free and fair elections.
With the #KenyaSomalilandRelations, the official Twitter handle of the liaison office of the East African country said Kenya’s foreign policy anchors on promoting regional peace. With this, we warmly congratulate the leadership & people of Somaliland for successfully staging democratic, open, free and fair elections, and reiterate conviction to strengthen ties with Somaliland.
This comes at a time when Kenya’s row with Somalia is meteorically growing by the day with issues bordering on interference, border disputes and airstrikes incidence.
Somaliland, which broke away from Somalia in 1990 has Relations with Kenya that are historical and important as the two countries build a strong bilateral relationship and a significant development partnership over a long period of time promoting friendly atmosphere and developing economic, cultural and scientific relations.
Somalia on the other hand is still struggling to hold election as the government and the country’s five semi-autonomous states reached an agreement to hold elections in a 60 day ultimatum that is winding down.
