Marodijeh regional governor denies reports that Sool people being harassed in Hargeisa

Somaliland Marodijeh regional governor Mahamed Cilmi Ahmed in a press conference denied reports on social media that Sool people are being harassed in Hargeisa City.

The governor said that the whole of the Marodijeh residents and region are peaceful, and that the violence in the Sool region has been exaggerated with spreading of lies. The governor denied reports on social media which alleged that sool region people are being harassed in Hargeisa city.

“There is no harm to the people from Sool who live in the Marodijeh region, there is no one who was attacked or harmed in the Marodijeh region and there are no reports of anyone who got caught by such activities” . The official repeatedly said.

The governor encouraged the people to go back to living their normal lives as they used to live in peace, go to school and do their jobs, also, he called on anyone who sees or hears any type of harassment to report it to the government, promising to prosecute them.

The armed conflict between Somaliland National army and the local militia has entered the second week that resulted in the deaths and injuries of many people. On several occasions, the Somaliland government clarified its readiness to solve the status quo in a peaceful manner.
