The Mayor of Hargeisa Abdikareem Ahmed Mogeh has given a public apology to the taxi drivers for not giving them a constructive notice to pay their tax. Mogeh said he is not ashamed to give a public apology for his political decisions.
He said it was sad that the tax campaign started without giving notice to the public. The Mayor announced a four day deadline for the taxi drivers which is starting from Wednesday to Saturday. He advised them to follow the new orders from the administration to finish the exercise on time.
His announcement came barely a day after he launched a tax campaign and more taxi drivers complained about the abrupt exercise and the amount they were told to pay which is 180,000 Somaliland shillings per year. They said they can not afford to pay this amount citing that they do similar payments to the central government.
