The police headquarters in Borama, the administrative capital of Somaliland’s Awdal region, was attacked on early morning Monday .
Brigadier General Farah Mohamed Mireh, the deputy commander of Somaliland’s polices forces confirmed the attack.
The deputy commander said the assailants escaped to the border of Ethiopia after their attack failed. He added that some of the attackers were captured by the police.
The Brigader-General said no losses resulted in the attack and that the situation is calm now.
Reports indicated that a militia led by ex-rebel, Sultan Abubakar Elmi Wabar, was responsible for the attack.
This comes a week after government vehicle was ambushed on the road between Dila and Borama by unknown assailants. It’s not clear whether the incidents are related.
