SOMALILAND.COM – Somaliland minister of Public Works and Housing Abdirashid Haji Duale Qambi has apologized for Hass Patroliya’s allegations of financing the insurgency in Buuhoodle, after 24 hours.
Minister of Public Works and Housing held a news conference in his office on Wednesday, February 26th, in the presence of the Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives and the Minister of Information who hail from the same region.
He said his apology was related to the fact that he did not provide to the press evidence that HASS Petroleum was funding the militants in Eastern Region, but he reiterated that there are people who are financing the gang.
The minister proposed to the board of Directors of the Hass Petroleum to dismiss an unnamed employee from the company whom he said was in Mogadishu and accused of giving money to the militia in Buuhoodle.
It is not the first time that the Somaliland Minister of Public Works and Housing Abdirashid Qambi has retreated allegations against commercial companies within 24 hours.
The minister declined to further comment on the reasons and evidence to make such allegations.
HASS or HASS Petroleum is a privately owned oil and investment company headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded by Abdinasir Ali Hassan and his late brother Abdirizak Ali Hassan both originally from Somaliland.
