Somaliland ministry of public works, land and housing has appointed a technical committee to set up a clear and long lasting system to ensure the safety of the country’s markets, most importantly the Waaheen market in Hargeisa which a huge fire engulfed last month.
The Ministry directed the appointed committee to work closely with the country’s city councils while underlining the one in Hargeisa which still closed down for the next month. The statement noted that two of the Hargeisa city council members will be members of the committee.
The two officials are Eng, Jama Adan Xadi (Mideeye) and Eng, Abdirizaq Mohamed Farah (Wiiwaa). This statement came barely a few days after Yasin Omar Yare, a member of Hargeisa city council, cautioned the central government to not intervene in their responsibilities.
