The Negotiation committee has called on Somaliland political leaders to de-escalate tension and get back to the talks, following the failed talks on Tuesday. The committee said there is still hope to find solutions to the problems if the political parties show political maturity.
The secretary general of the committee Sheikh Ismail Dheeg recommended the President to take the responsibility of saving the country from chaos and insecurity resulting from the argument on which election could precede the other.
The committee advised the opposition parties to show political maturity and be able to listen to the recommendations of the public concerning maintaining peace and security in the country. Meanwhile, they asked the political parties’ supporters to remain calm and peaceful.
On Tuesday, Somaliland opposition parties said the ongoing talks between them and the government over the upcoming elections “failed” and put the blame on President Muse Bihi. The opposition parties did not clarify what could be their next move following the failed talks.
