Donated by the PLO Lumumba Foundation under the theme; empowerment through technology, the Unity University board members today presented 10 sets of computers to the Somaliland National Commission for Higher education in fulfillment of the foundation’s mandate to boost education sector through technology.
The role out of the educational empowerment to the Somaliland National Commission of Higher Education by the PLO Lumumba Foundation is said to be the first port of calls as the donation is set to cover urban and rural regions of the country.
The donation, which kick-started with the Commission, is expected to reach all schools across board, including the remote areas of Somaliland. Speaking on behalf the PLO Lumumba Foundation, the campus director of the Unity University Musa Yusuf said the aim of the donation is to support Somaliland’s education sector through technology. Yusuf expressed the varsity’s readiness to transform Somaliland education system by providing affordable, quality and efficient education for all.
The academic registrar of the Unity University David Katariga buttressed that the donation of the sets of computers to schools is a national drive to encourage technology in the education system of Africa. Appreciating the gesture, the Commission’s Director General, Ibrahim Aamin Gadiid said the donation will go a long way in standardizing the education of the country.
Ibrahim praised PLO Lumumba foundation for its drive in sustaining education in Africa through scholarships and donations. The set of computers was then officially presented to the commission on behalf of PLO Lumumba foundation with poise to proceed to schools across all regions of Somaliland in days to come.
