PLO LUMUMBA Foundation offers humanitarian scholarship to a poor Somalilander

The Plo Lumumba Foundation which launched the Unity University in Hargeisa, Somaliland at the end of 2021 has amongst many other things offered a humanitarian scholarship to Maqdashi Ali Dahir, a poor Somalilander who could not afford to further his education

Maqdashi Ali Dahir is a porter and brick layer who never takes his job for granted.
As a poor hardworking young Somali who always sets out before sunrise to make ends meet, his dream is to raise funds to be able to further his education. Having completed secondary school, his parent could not afford sending him for higher education as the situation was not palatable.

However, Maqdashi’s longtime dream turned to reality as the searchlight of the Unity University’s humanitarian scholarships through the PLO Lumumba Foundation captured him worthy alongside many others.

Yusuf Musa is a Public Relation Director Compass, TUU. He says Maqdashi is one amongst several other somalilanders to benefit from the PLO Lumumba scholarship in the country. He says the Unity University (TUU) is Africa’s pioneer, non-profit accredited university in Somaliland which prides itself as being the education revolution dedicated to opening access to higher education globally, by assisting qualified high school graduates to overcome financial and attendant constraints in accessing higher education.

He affirms that TUU believes that access to higher education is a basic right which promotes world peace and global economic development, adding that it has undertaken to contribute to bridging the gap between varsity and the host communities.

Maqdashi Ali Dahir’s joy knows no boundaries as he joins many students at the PLO Lumumba Foundation in Somaliland, which is the 39th African country it operates in terms of education sector and humanitarian activities
