President Bihi reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to resolving the conflict through peaceful negotiations and dialogue. He emphasized the presence of external actors involved in the conflict, specifically mentioning Puntland state in Somalia, alleging their influence in perpetuating the war.
The President clarified that while he has not authorized his armed forces to initiate hostilities, they are authorized to defend themselves against any perceived threats posed by the allied forces. President Bihi highlighted that rival groups have been launching mortar attacks on military bases, prompting the defensive response from the Somaliland army.
Furthermore, President Bihi expressed the impossibility and potential repercussions of dividing Somaliland along clan-based borders, warning that such an approach could pose a significant risk to regional security.
