President Bihi blows hot while sending condolence message to family of slain police officer

Hargeisa, July 30 (SOMALILAND.COM):- Somaliland president Muse Bihi sent a condolence message to the family of a police officer slain in El-Afweyn district in Sanaag region and wished those injured speedy recoveries.

The president while speaking yesterday at the launching ceremony of the strategic plan of Somaliland quality control agency said no one knew the reason why the police officers were attacked.

The president was quite agitated as he commented on the killing of the police officer in Eel-Afweyn district. He said that it is unacceptable that members of the Somaliland national forces are slain without fear of the consequences of such an act.

He added that government’s self-restraint in the face of repeated attacks on the national forces should not be mistaken for foolishness.

‘I know, as the president, that the country is wondering what would be done about those responsible for killing national servicemen; I know that this question awaits an answer from me.

‘However, whatever we have to do must not engender our own destruction even while deterring the worst.’

The police officer was killed while confronting anti-curfew demonstrators in El-Afweyn town.

At least three teenagers were killed, and an unspecified number of others were also injured in the incident.
