Somaliland opposition parties; Waddani and Ucid have delivered their long awaited statement on the current poll disputes, declaring Bihi and his administration “as illegitimate”, excluding the two other government institution branches; the legislative and judiciary.
However, Waddani and Ucid did not state whom they consider as the legitimate President to proceed the government activities nor established a transitional government as they previously informed the public.
In the press statement, the opposition parties clarified once more their desire for the election to take place in line with the technical timetable proposed by the National electoral commission which stated that elections could be held within nine months.
After their press conference, some of the opposition supporters in Burao endorsed the call and gathered in the city center. The police immediately arrived at the scene and dispersed the supporters with bullets.
The opposition parties made their announcement after a long hours delay of their expected press conference due to the immediate intervention from the mediation committee which later ended with no positive results.
