As the food and energy prices keep rising in Somaliland, President Bihi believes the main problem is the lack of productivity of his people who are highly dependent on food and fuel imports from other nations.
The President noted he had warned of the current situation following the Russia – Ukraine war and some countries including India suspending their exports to other nations.
President Bihi repeatedly encouraged the citizens and businessmen to take part in the agricultural production so that Somaliland can be free from dependence on world imports and instead consume their local products.
Citizens have recently been complaining about the rising food and energy prices, demanding from the government for an intervention as the electricity companies announced a five hours blackout in Hargeisa from August.
