Tog-Wachale (Somaliland.com) – Somaliland president Muse Bihi yesterday has urged the national army to respect the customary law of mutual exploitation of farmland.
The president addressing the army that manages farmland in fertile Wajale valley (Tog-Wachale) said that the customary law is to allow pastoralists to graze their animals in farmlands after harvest. The president warned the armed forces of blocking animals from grazing the army farms after harvest with the pretext of the farm being army bases.
President Muse Bihi in his return to capital from Borama and Gabiley was touring the lush Wajale Valley where Somaliland national army manages large swathes of farmland. He was accompanied by the minister of agriculture, and the chief of the national army, and the administration of Gabiley region and Wajale district.
The president who was briefed on the produce of the valley urged the ministry of the Agriculture and the national army to increase productivity to meet the food demands of the nation. The president expressed his hope that the valley will help the nation achieve self-sufficiency in terms of food.
