The President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hoped this new year 2023 to be a year of service and performance by the Somali government and the year of finalization of the constitution, strengthening and reforming the national armed forces as well as imrpoving their standrad.
Hassan Sheikh Promised that this year will be the completion of the debt forgiveness process of Somalia and political stability and the establishment of laws and the protection of human rights.
He said that Somalia was committed to taking over its security responsibilities and emphasized the federal government would be ready when the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) leaves the country in December 2024.
The President announced the expandation of the children’s education system and the improvement and the maintenance of security. The President added that achieving political stability, conducting a national census, and building national institutions, especially the election and constitutional commissions, would be a top priority for his administration this year.
