Hargeisa, May 26 (Somaliland.com) — The President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, today officially concluded the first phase of the Youth National Service Program in the Darar-weyne Training Camp at suburbs of the capital.
National Youth Service Program hosts 1500 young Somalilanders chosen from the six regions of Somaliland. They receive physical and administrative training in Dararweyne (boys) and other cities (girls).
The ceremony has been attended by members of the cabinet, the various national military commanders, some of the heads of state institutions, other political and intellectual dignitaries.
It was presented the achievements of this program, challenges and its benefits to the nation.
President of the Republic of Somaliland HE. Muse Bihi praised the project, addressed the objectives and results of the national service program for the unemployed youth, and said that “national service program is the core plan for the Somaliland development.
The president said that the program is a success story of the young generation, who are committed to developing their country.
“I say loudly to everyone on the National Service Program today that they have a lot of courageous ways to develop their country and volunteer to work in all regions, and this makes our enemy unhappy with us,” the President said.
The Director General of the National Service Program, Mohamed Hussein Osman (Muadin) first thanked the President for his encouragement and co-operation and underscored that this step was implemented successfully, which is a good example of the government’s commitment
The DG stated that the program achieved its goals of integration, self-esteem, equality of young people in Somaliland, and raising awareness.
Minister of Defense, Hon. Abdiqani Mohamud Ateye, chief of armed forces General Nuh Ismail Taani and Marwo Edna Adan Ismail, also spoke at the ceremony.
These youths will now start a second phase of the national service program, which will be an internship and a social service, and the second phase will be 9-10 (Nine to ten) months.
Over 120 of these boys and girls have voluntarily chosen to join the national army of the Republic of Somaliland.
Finally, President Muse Bihi has awarded the honorary certificate to the National Service Program team, which has proved their worthy role in this endeavor.
