

Hargeisa (Somaliland) – The first batch of students today graduated from Qalam Educational and Technical Center in Hargeisa. In a grand ceremony, the leading institution founded two years back graduated forty-three students from different English courses.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from Somaliland’s government, political parties, and community leaders.
Mutiu Olawuyi, the executive director of Qalam Center congratulated the graduating class of 2019. He exalted the hard work all the students put on throughout their time at the institution.
The graduating students showcased some of the linguistic skills they have acquired through studies at Qalam Institution. Some made inspiring speeches on education, social activism and leading positive change. Other students displayed their literature flair with beautifully composed and read poems.
Qalam Educational and Technical Center announced 100 scholarship positions at the ceremony. The scholarships will be awarded young men and women chosen through a competitive process. Another package of scholarships will go to specific government departments such as the Immigration Department, Traffic Police and others.
The management of Qalam Center finally honored the Head of Somaliland’s Immigration Department, General Dayib Osman Alin, with the Best Performing Public Office Holder 2019 award.
CBA TV was also recognized as the best television station in Somaliland for its English Service that takes Somaliland’s message to the rest of the world.
