Hargeisa (Somaliland.com) – The leader of the Justice and Welfare Party, UCID, has warned of a plot by Somalia’s embassy in Addis Ababa to disintegrate Somaliland.
Faysal Ali Warabe, the chairperson of UCID party, accused Somalia’s ambassador to Ethiopia of conspiring to disintegrate Somaliland by creating new states that are affiliated with the Federal Government of Somalia.
Faysal Ali Warabe alleged that the ambassador Abdikarin Haji Abdillahi Omar Amey is leading a drive to form a federal state called Maakhir in Somaliland’s Sool and Sanaag regions.
Faysal said the former Vice President of Puntland who turned ambassador facilitated a meeting between Somaliland traditional leaders from those regions and IGAD officials to pave the road for the formation of the new state.
They want to build something called Makhirland, Makhir state. It’s comprised of Sanaag and Khatumo state, or Sool, Sanaag and Ayn regions. Now, they want to get a green light from IGAD.
