The government of Somalia has stopped all inter cities local flights around the country as a measure to stop the spread of coronavirus in the county.
Somalia has so far recorded three cases of covid19 and is pursuing people who traveled with the first patient on the same flight.
Major towns across Somalia have airstrips that eased commuting of commercial airlines across Somalia.
A government official Mukhtar Omar announced on twitter that the federal government of Somalia has temporarily halted all local air transports across Somalia in a bid to suppress the spread of coronavirus.
The temporary ban starts tomorrow, Sunday 29th March 2019, and will last for a period that has not been declared.
The country has so far made drastic measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus including; Stopping all commercial international flights to Somalia, shutting down all learning institutions, banning all large social gatherings for two weeks to help reduce the potential spread of the deadly virus.
The Horn of African nation has so far confirmed one COVID-19 case in the country. Some 10 people have been quarantined after arriving from countries that have been ravaged by the deadly virus.
