Somaliland authorities have executed six men on Wednesday, Jan 15th.
According to the Human rights lawyer and former chairman of Human Rights Center, Guleid Ahmed Jama, the executions were carried out by firing squad at Mandheera prison in Sahil Region.
Two of the executed members were related to terror charges and allegedly being members of the Somalia Militant group Al-Shabaab.
The other four were executed to various crimes.
Somaliland enjoys relative peace since declaring secession from the Somali Republic and is safe from al-Shabaab activities but the region executed first al-Shabaab members in 2016.
Incidents of Homicides and Clan skirmishes rarely happen in the country. And the convicted killers of these incidents face death penalties or sometimes clans agree on compensations worth of camels.
