Maroodijeeh regional court of Somaliland has acquitted the eminent humanitarian activist and Journalist Abdimalik Muse Oldon of any wrongdoing and ordered the police officers to release him from detention.
Intiatial reports say he still remains in police custody after the prosecuting attorney appealed the court’s verdict. Abdimalik Muse Oldon was arrested last year after he was accused of defaming Barwaaqo University and individuals, an accusation he strongly denied before the court.
Abdimalik Oldon was arrested after he unearthed the story of a female Nigerian who is in Hargeisa as the president of Barwaaqo University and expressed his concern over her presence in the country for spreading christianty in the country, an allegation that was later on denied by the University management.
This journalist has been arrested several times on various cases including his ideology of pan-somalism, the Abaarso School accusations, and being critical to the current government of Somaliland.
