The minister of Defence of the republic of Somaliland, Abdiqani Mohamoud Aateye in a twitter post stated that he is optimistic the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Somaliland, Abdirizak Khalif to join the self claimed Independent Peace Mission Delegations of Traditional elders in the region for peacemaking, to Engage together in Conflict Resolution negotiations.
The Speaker of the Somaliland Parliament, Abdirisak Khalif, who has been in Lasanod for several weeks, playing a crucial role and attempting his level best to bring this conflict to an end. The Speaker stated earlier that he went to the city so that the people of sool region can discuss their interests in a peaceful manner and to end the conflict through negotiation.
The Somaliland government reiterated its call to all sides to accept and welcome the traditional elders who are eager to collaborate in negotiation to reach a peaceful resolution.
The armed conflict between the Somaliland army and local militia in LasAnod which has been relatively calm for the last few days has witnessed on Tuesday morning a fresh combat between the warring sides.
