The Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) has officially inaugurated the distribution of voter cards in the regions of Awdal, Sahil, and Sanaag. The distribution of voter cards is proceeding smoothly and harmoniously, according to the authorities.
With the upcoming elections in mind, the electoral commission members and political stakeholders are actively encouraging citizens to obtain their voter cards to ensure their participation in the electoral process.
In line with previous statements made by the Chairman of the electoral commission, the initial phase of voter card distribution will span a period of 10 days, culminating on June 9th, 2023. Subsequently, the second phase is set to commence in the regions of Maroodijeeh, Togdheer, and Sool from June 12th to June 21st.
Furthermore, the national electoral commission has emphasized the illegality of one citizen procuring a voting card on behalf of another citizen. It is imperative to note that such actions are strictly prohibited by law. The electoral commission warned.
