The Somaliland delegation, led by Foreign Minister Essa Kayd Mohamoud, has safely arrived home from Taiwan after a five-day trip consisting of meetings with high-level officials. He was recieved by government officials at the airport in the early hours of Monday.
The minister gave a speech where he referred to his visit to Taiwan as “ historic”. He reiterated that the aim of his meetings with top Taiwan government officials including President Tsia Wen, was to strengthen relations between the two countries.
He also disclosed that the two sides have made successful agreements on the fishery, health, technology ,mining as well as oil and gas industry.
At a press conference on Friday, Essa Kayd said relations were “at the highest level.” and said no one can dictate who they want to have relations with.
This was the first visit of Essa Kayd traveling to Taiwan since he was appointed as foreign minister a few months ago.
