Somaliland foreign Minister Yasin Faraton has announced his candidacy for the house of representatives.
The minister who hails from the eastern region of Somaliland will be contesting in Sool region and is also expected to run for the position of speaker of the house of representatives.
The Third Deputy Chairman of Wadani party, Abdirisak Khalif Ahmed had also previously launched his ambition for the top seat at the House of Representatives.
The two officials hail from the same constituency and will engage hard in the battle for the top seat at the House of Representatives. The seat is currently held by Bashe Mohamed Farah who also hails from Sool region.
Yasin Faraton had previously served as the Minister of education before he was appointed as the ministry of foreign affairs. He was also a key figure on Somaliland’s delegation talks with Somalia, last year.
