Hargeisa, May 27:- Somaliland government has today announced the release of fourteen Puntland “prisoners of war” captured in Tukaraq clashes as a goodwill gesture.
The speaker of Somaliland Presidency released a press statement confirming this. The Speaker, Mr. Mohamoud Warsame Jama, shared the government’s decision to release these soldiers back to Puntland.
“Emphasizing the importance of peace and brotherly neighborhood, Somaliland has taken this step as a goodwill gesture, and Puntland is required to respect the territorial borders with the Republic of Somaliland, “ the statement added.
The clashes happened last year and earlier this year in Tukaraq area of Sool Region of eastern Somaliland.
