The Somaliland government has expressed concern over the widely spreading drought in some regions of the country, underlining that the country did not receive four consecutive rains which caused many people to be affected by the droughts.
On Wednesday, the country’s national Drought Rescue Committee announced the donation of two million US dollars ($2 Million) to support people severely affected by the drought. Officials said Somaliland has not seen catastrophic drought like this for years.
The National drought rescue committee also declared that many people including adults and children faced malnutrition and were hospitalized for treatment in major towns of the country.
The committee also clarified the two million donation as an urgent drought relief but the government will continue the support as much as they can reach to the people affected by the drought.
