In an effort to safeguard the environment as well as give special attention to climate change, Somaliland government has introduced a new project to lower the Price of the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and Propane gas so as to reduce use of charcoal. The project was jointly launched by the Somaliland ministry of environment and the UNDP.
The project which will be carried out by Somgas company is intended for the public to get cheaper propane gas for powering essential life needs such as cooking, industrial and health facilities.Officials revealed that the project will be executed in the major cities of the country including Hargeisa, Borama, Burao, Berbera. Lasanod and Erigavo.
During the launch, SOMGAS manager, Saed Hussein Yusuf, talked about the significance of the project for the benefit of the public and environmental conservation.
The Director general of Somaliland ministry of environment and rural development Abdikarim Adam Saed also pointed out to the subsequent of this new plan in the following years to save the environment.
