The Somaliland house of representatives has appointed a special committee to make assessment about the volatile situation in LasAnod which has now entered for the third consecutive week and resulted in hundreds of people dead and many more wounded.
In the statement, the house did not give a deadline to the selected committee. but, asked them to provide a comprehensive report to the house “very soon.” However, the appointment followed after the house held a closed session on Sunday and discussed the strained situation in LasAnod.
The House of Representatives endorsed a full bilateral ceasefire to cease hostilities and urged the two sides to relocate their troops in order to have a peaceful resolution regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, Somaliland retreated its army forces from frontlines in LasAnod to their designated military bases while taking into consideration the voices of the citizens and the international partners in order to achieve a ceasefire and minimize civilian impact. The foreign affairs minister said on Sunday.
